Ahead of their Manchester show, Big Time Rush members James and Carlos chat to us about the band.

Are you excited to be heading back to the UK?
James: We are excited to be here because it is a whole different world to the US. It is cool to experience the fans here because they are completely different.

The culture is also different here and the way people do things, for example beans for breakfast – that is weird! This morning I had beans on toasts with Canadian bacon, which is different from our bacon.

Carlos: I had the weirdest French toast this morning – it was like a cake with no syrup and strawberries. I think the more we come back here the more we feel comfortable here. Also we are getting to see more parts of the UK each time we come.

James: I went to the West End in London last night to the theatre and got to go for a really good dinner. It is just like anywhere else you go, the more you get to know a place, the more comfortable we are, the more people you met and we’ve establish our UK team/family now.

How was your London gig in April?
Carlos: That gig was awesome!
James: One of the best shows we have ever done.
Carlos: The energy was just incredible. That venue was awesome. I heard The Beetles played there. That is cool that we got to play where they did.

Are you pleased with the success so far for your debut album?
James: It only came out today, so I have no idea how well it is doing. It did really well in the US. Without any radio play and for a new artist, it did incredibly well, it was awesome.

What can fans expect from it?
James: There is something for everyone. A lot of the fans will already know the songs from the show, but we do have some bonus tracks.
Carlos: There is a special poster in there, and from a competition we ran we have put names of the fans on there.
James: There are four members in this band so there are a lot of different songs and genres in there. Til I Forget About You is much more rock/pop, Worldwide is much more r ‘n’ b/pop.
Carlos: We are already working on the second album.

Are you finding it hard balancing the show and the music side of it?
Carlos: It was hard at first, but at the moment we are away from the show now so it is hard balancing the music.
James: It was hard doing them both together, because while shooting the show we work five days on it and then we only have two days for everything else - when actually you need five to do both.

It is like having two full time jobs, three when you include the dancing and chorography. Then there’s stuff like interviews and other necessities of the job.

When we are not filming full-time the show it is easier to concentrate on the music. However, there are always new things that are coming up, it is always fun and it is always a challenge.

What do you have planned for the rest of the year?
Carlos: We are shooting a film in Vancouver for six weeks in the autumn and are touring for the rest of the summer. And we are planning a trip together in the Summer.

We just went on a vacation together, because as well as working together we are all best friends. So we had a great time, we went to an island for a week and it was so relaxing.

James: It was the first vacation I have been on in six years. We don’t normally have time.

Carlos: We had a few days to let loose from work

Last week, BOP and Tiger Beat were the only magazines invited to the set of Big Time Rush, where we asked cuties James Maslow and Carlos Pena about how they asked their dates to prom! The boys definitely had prom on their minds, since a brand new episode, “Big Time Prom Kings,” airs this weekend. When we were at Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, we were among a lucky few who got to watch the entire episode and trust us, it’s hilarious! It also features BTR’s song “Nothing Even Matters,” which we caught the boys performing last Saturday! Introducing “Big Time Rush” Star, Carlos Pena

One of Latina’s 25 Brightest Stars Under 25, Carlos Pena is a triple threat (actor, singer, dancer) best known for his current role as Carlos Garcia on Nickelodeon’s music-themed teen sitcom, Big Time Rush.

On the show, which premiered in November of 2009 and tells the story of four friends from Minnesota who move to L.A. to follow their dreams of boy band stardom, Pena plays the comic relief character.

“Carlos is like the dynamite of the group,” the actor said in a recent interview. “He is full of energy all of the time, has no filter, and does whatever he wants, when he wants. And he keeps the rest of the guys from being boring. If there were a pool that was freezing cold, he’d be the first one to jump in!”

Pena, whose mother is Dominican and father is Spanish and Venezuelan, was raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He formed a music group with his Big Time Rush costars and had a hand in the hit single, “The City of Ours” (watch the video below). Believe it or not, he’s only 21.

Yet with those dimples, that smile and that big voice, it’s safe to say Latinas will have a crush on this Big Time Rush star for years to come!

What’s your favorite food or vice to get you through a long recording session?
As bad as it is…coffee. I usually take down a couple of cups during a session.
What song on your album doesn’t get enough love that people should really listen to?
We have so many great songs on the album, but one of my personal favorites is “Nothing Even Matters.”
What kind of music did you grow up listening to?
I grew up with the Beatles, B.B. King, Elvis, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Incubus, Taking Back Sunday, Radiohead, and Michael Jackson.

What boy bands out there do you think are great—and why?
Looking at the past, ‘NSYNC was the greatest in my opinion. They literally spent years rehearsing before they did any major tour and thanks to that, they were a well-oiled machine. Justin Timberlake is a prime example of how a truly talented artist can then transition from a group into a successful solo career, and the lesson I take from that is to never stop training and striving to get better.
Who are your celebrity crushes?
I have had a crush on Emma Watson since the first Harry Potter. No, I haven’t met her yet, but a guy can hope.
What do you look for in a girl?
For me to be interested in a girl, she has to have an outgoing personality and a passion of her own. Low maintenance is nice, too.

Why do you think Snoop Dogg wanted to work with you?
We were very excited when we found out that Snoop Dogg wanted to do the show. He told us that his daughter was a big fan and that once he knew that, it was a done deal. In his many years of doing shows and videos, his daughter had not once wanted to come to the set as much as she did for the Big Time Rush Snoop “Boyfriend” video!
What was it like working with him?
Working with Snoop Dogg was just as awesome as anyone might think. He met all of our expectations and more. He’s just as cool and relaxed as he appears.
You’ve worked with Snoop Dogg now, but who are your dream collaborators?
We would love to work with Justin Timberlake. We all look up to him very much and it would be a dream to collaborate on a song with him.

What song on your album doesn’t get enough love that people should really listen to?
Thankfully, our fans give a lot of love to all our songs. That is why we have the best fans in the world.
Why do you think Snoop Dogg wanted to work with you? What was it like working with him?
I know he was a fan because his daughter was a big fan of the show and the music. So we got the chance to work with a legend…and he couldn’t have been any cooler! Thanks Snoop!
You’ve worked with Snoop Dogg now, but who are your dream collaborators?
We all agree — Justin Timberlake would be pretty amazing!

Are you ready for some pics from London?

It was so awesome to fly from Amsterdam to London for BTR! The city is so nice and it was so cool to meet the BTR guys! We gave them a Dutch Clumb to remember us and i gave Logan 3 little pink cards from me!

It was cool to meet Mo from the USA and some other girls there! I hugged Logan and Kendall so i never been so happy as now!

Carlos Pena Buys a $1.5-Million Home in the San Fernando Valley.

FROM LA TIMES – Actor, singer and tween heartthrob Carlos Pena Jr. has bought a Mediterranean-style home in the San Fernando Valley for close to its $1.5-million asking price.

The 6,000-square-foot villa is set back from the road on a gated lot. It has a paver-stone courtyard with a fountain. The custom front door, with leaded and beveled glass and side lights, opens to a two-story foyer with limestone floor, curved staircase and crystal chandelier.

There are five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The master suite has a marble fireplace with wood-carved mantel and French doors that open onto a balcony. The master bathroom features dual dressing tables, an oversized marble steam shower with etched glass and a stone fireplace.

The kitchen includes an island with a food prep sink and custom cabinetry. The home also has a wine cellar, which its new owner is just old enough to stock. It sits on landscaped grounds with a pool, spa and pool house.

Pena, 21, sings with the pop music band Big Time Rush and plays the character Carlos Garcia on the Nickelodeon series “Big Time Rush” (2009-present). He has appeared on “Summerland” (2005), “Judging Amy” (2005) and “ER” (2004).

Carol Wolfe of Rodeo Realty, Encino, was the listing agent on the property. Andrew Mortaza from Keller Williams, Burbank, represented the buyer.
